2, 3 or 4 Year Funding
WHAT IS EARLY YEARS ENTITLEMENT?
The Early Years Entitlement [EYE] provides part-time nursery education for 15 hours a week for 38 weeks during a financial year. Parents/carers can choose where to take up their free nursery education from a range of providers including school nursery classes, voluntary, independent or private day nurseries; independent schools or accredited childminders. The 15 hours must be taken over a minimum of a 2 day period, between the hours of 7.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. and you must complete a parent agreement setting out the pattern of attendance with the provider for them to be able to claim the funding on your behalf.
Children become eligible for EYE the funding period after their third birthday and funding is then provided until they reach compulsory school age. You can access as much or as little of the free entitlement as you choose and may take up your free entitlement with a maximum of two providers.
